BUTCH JOHNS Memorial Competition 2017

This year the event was held on Sunday 29th January. The memorial Annual Open Event is to celebrate the memory of BUTCH JOHNS. The founder and visionary of Innis Fly Fishery.

On Sunday 29th January anglers turning up to fish the Butch Johns Memorial Cup competition were greeted with the worse wet weather conditions experienced in this competition so far. Gusts and continuous rain made for a really challenging day for all.

Undeterred 22 brave anglers took to the banks ready for the start. It all started well with fish being taken almost immediately after the 9.30 start. Sterrick lake was pegged for the event and prooved to be a challenge to catch and bring to the net for all as you can see from the catch numbers. Lunchtime came and not to soon for many a wet competitor, we stopped for a much needed hot cuppa and a pasty kindly provided and prepared by Theresa. Fish bags from the morning session were not inspiring with around 3 fish being the highest.

The afternoon session was much of the same with few catching in the continuing torrential rain. Below you can see the full results of the event with Pete Runnals taking the Butch Johns Memorial trophy with 5 fish, second was Dave Perks with 4 fish and third was Len Nottle with 3 fish...still enjoyable even though the conditions were a bit dire!
