Snowbee Innis Spring Cup 2017

SNOWBEE INNIS SPRING CUP

Saturday 8th April 2017 once again saw anglers from all over England and Wales gather together to fish the annual Snowbee Innis Spring Cup.

With all forty places taken, anglers were greeted with a sunny day with a strong easterly wind which would make fishing challenging. From the first hooter at 9.20am fish were taken in various areas on both lakes with some pegs proving to be hot spots from the off. The morning session comprised of five pegs each lasting thirty minutes with a ten minute interval to set up on the next peg. At lunchtime, several anglers were still in with a good chance of winning. After a pasty and a cuppa, the afternoon session started again at 1.30pm.

The weather conditions deteriorated with the wind getting stronger but the fish continued to feed. Although six anglers were still in with a good chance of winning the competition, Andrew Gooding took four more fish on his last peg of the day securing himself the coveted Spring Cup.

The presentation was held at the Trethurgy Village Hall where hot food was provided by Chris Perkins. The prizes were presented by Dave Johns, fishery owner, and Russell Weston from Snowbee UK. First Place went to Andrew Gooding from Liverton winning a Spectre Cassette Fly Reel with 3 spare spools and reel bag, the Snowbee Innis Spring Cup, 1st Place trophy and £150 cheque. Second Place went to Paul Jones from Wadebridge winning a Snowbee Fly vest/Backpack, 2nd Place Trophy and £100 cheque. Third Place went to Vince Barker from St Stephen winning a Snowbee Boat/Bank net with a large wet sack, 3rd Place Trophy and £50 cheque. Thanks again to Snowbee for sponsoring the competition and to Russell Weston for his continued support. Dave and Theresa would like to particularly thank Peter Runnalls, Head Fishery Bailiff, for all his hard work prior to the competition. Thanks to Lee, Phil and Roger for their help stocking fish and to Dell, Gyl, Nick and Halia for helping with afternoon refreshments. A special thanks to all the controllers on the day for giving up their spare time to make the competition run smoothly. Hope to see you all again next year!
